The thing about Hidden Pond, the luxury Kennebunkport cottage getaway where Jessica and Rex hosted their colorful autumnal wedding, is that it really is hidden…in 60 acres of birch groves and balsam fir. Which means our earthy, jewel-toned arrangements felt right at home in a wood just turning for fall.
Jess and Rex envisioned out-of-the-box blooms to adorn their day (it was a Sweet Talk wedding after all). So we called on a few of our favorite oddball florets to star in the production. We’re talking duotone calla lilies, brain celosia, and long strands of amaranthus in both green and rich bordeaux. There there were black-eyed Susans and bunny tail grass sprigs aplenty.
To fill it all out, we worked in plenty of sepia-edged green hydrangea, dill stems, and something-blue delphinium. Oh and we can’t forget the mile-of-chamomile table runner. This was a request close to Jessica’s heart, and we loved it for both its breathy, field-frolicky romance and its herbal-sweet scent. Because you better believe it filled the space with its subtle but instantly nostalgic fragrance.
Now a word about the black-framed rattan tables, chairs, and bar—so good, right?? To answer your question, they were specialty rentals from Brooklyn-based Highstyle. (Don’t snooze on this resource!) They had just the right sleek-meets-natural vibe to rhyme with the black-framed reception tent and pine straw-sprinkled grass.
Then as with most bridal bouquets, Jessica’s was like her wedding day distilled to fit in the palm of her hand. By that we mean we pulled elements from each and every arrangement and install—and tied it all together with (of course) a length of bordeaux silk ribbon. We love the way all that color stood out proud against her crisp white gown.

P.S. That burnt sienna rotary phone is more than just decoration; it was a way for guests to leave the newlyweds a message of well wishes to listen back on later. Nothing to do with flowers, just a detail we loved.
