Any maker can tell you limitations fuel artistry. So when working by the less-is-more model, our floral creations are no less compelling to build. Soft earth tones, striking monochrome moments, sleek silhouettes… There’s no one way to do minimalism. Here are a few examples of how to embrace the negative space (while maintaining adequate lavishness on your big day).
To emphasize the high ceilings of this light-filled venue, we arranged stark green foliage and pearly roses to climb the trellis, and wove more foliage into the chandeliers. The fresh leaves had a modest, understated elegance—and they fluttered gracefully with the slightest breeze.

We pulled from the time-washed beige colorway of the Boston Public Library, where Donna and Mike got married. The sepia of the marble, the ivory of the pillars, and the Champagne of the lights were all reflected in the flowers. And inspired by the dusky iron contrasting all those pale shades, we brought in some crimson accents for depth.

These baby’s breath installations were a piece of cake to execute, and they looked pretty damn sublime before that sprawling estate. And while this reception also featured a few large-scale arrangements, we want to take a sec to highlight the stunning simplicity of a Russian olive foliage bunch, and a few lush blooms rising from a live moss table runner.

Who says minimalist wedding flowers can’t come with color? When deciding on the floral design for their Havana-themed wedding, Dana and Mike chose one bright, happy hue and ran with it. The fuchsia flowers—roses, anthurium, and ranunculus, to name a few—popped brilliantly against wedding whites (and that adorable “Little Blue” Bug).
